On 29th June 2020, the Ministry of Entertainment & Information Technology issued an order to ban 59 mobile apps in India, including your favorite mobile MOBA game, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. The Ministry states that these apps are prejudicial to India's sovereignty and integrity, defense of India, security to state and public order.
The Ministry of Entertainment & IT received many complaints regarding misuse of some mobile apps available on mobile devices (both Android and iOS) for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users' data in an unauthorized manner to servers located outside India.
The compilation of these data, its mining and profiling by elements hostile to national security and defence of India, which ultimately impinges upon the sovereignty and integrity of India, is a matter of very deep and immediate concern which requires emergency measures.
Ministry of Entertainment & IT
After considering the threat as mentioned above, Ministry of Entertainment & IT used its power under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 with relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009.
Section 69A of the Information Technology Act gives 'Power to issue directions for blocking for public access of any information through any computer resource.' So in view of the emergent nature of threats due to such apps, the Ministry decided to block 59 Apps in India including Mobile Legends, as they are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, security to state and public order.
Apart from that, as you all know about Galwan Valley Face-off between India and China, that took place on 16th June 2020. After this, the relations between India and China are going through tough times. Since then, an initiative has been taken by the people of India to boycott Chinese products and give vocal for local in order to increase the economic conditions of India.
