Niantic is bringing yet another augmented reality game, called CATAN – World Explorers. This is their fourth installment in their ever-growing catalog of games, including Pokémon Go and Harry Potter Wizards Unite. Unlike its board game counterpart, this transforms the entire Earth into one giant game of CATAN. Moreover, it is set to be a massively-multiplayer, location-based title.
You can harvest, trade, and build in the real world. Gather classic CATAN resources – Lumber, Grain, Ore, Wool, and Brick. Furthermore, cities and landmarks are transformed into settlements where you can collect resources, construct buildings, and score points for your Faction. While some resources may be plentiful in your region while other resources would be available through trade.
Exciting gameplay mechanics will see yourself entertained with in-game characters you can bargain with and prove beneficial. Make alliances with friends or find new ones as you strategically construct roads, expand settlements, and race to gain Victory Points. You’ll be simultaneously competing on the local and global levels.
Victory Points will decide the fate of your Faction. The more points you earn, the more you’ll contribute towards your Faction’s Global score as well as your own Local Game. As the game progresses seasonally, the prevailing team of a season will secure rewards that follow through into future seasons.
