If we talk about mobile games, 2020 has been quite an eventful year. We’re halfway into the year and have already been treated with some absolute gems of games. One of those gems is Kotoba Games’ latest 2D side-scrolling platformer, Nameless Cat.
But unlike Shadow Knight or Dead Cells, Nameless Cat is still criminally unknown among the gaming community, with only 50k downloads on the Play Store.
The game allows the players to play as a cat who’s on a journey to reach its owner. On its way, the cat encounters various creatures, and undergoes trials and hardships, just to reach its owner’s embrace. Players also get to talk with other animals and collect treasures while still uncovering the mysterious past of the cat.
The game’s narrative consists of a heart-warming story, told from the cat’s point of view. With retro-inspired pixel style graphics and a soulful score, the game is an excellent stress-buster.
Nameless Cat’s strong points are its plot and the soundtrack. The game’s wistful storyline tugs at your heartstrings and the end leaves you bawling your eyes out. If you have a pet, especially a cat, then this might affect you more than others. The soundtrack, on the other hand, is designed to create a sense of loneliness so intense that it makes you experience the actual emotions of the cat you are playing as.
While the character design of the game is quite simple, the entire concept of the game along with its storyline is simply outstanding. You can tell, just by looking at its trailer, that the developers have worked a lot while creating this game. So, it’s very disheartening to see the lukewarm response it has received so far. Do yourself a favor and play this beautiful game. You won’t regret it in the slightest!
Nameless Cat is available for download via Google Play.
