Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts Dark Road Has Been Delayed

Kingdom Hearts Dark Road (formerly known as Project Xehanort) was one of the games its fans have looked forward to this year. The mobile Kingdom Hearts title from gaming giant Square Enix was announced back in January 2020 and it was scheduled to release in the Spring of 2020 (March 20 - June 20). Initially, the social marketing campaign for this game was off to a rocketing start with contests and prizes. But unfortunately, the twitter handle had just announced that Kingdom Hearts Dark Road has been delayed due to the current COVID-19 situation.

Dark Road is developed by the same team which handles Kingdom Hearts Union X (Cross). KHDR will be released within the KHUX mobile app. The two games together will be combined in one app called Kingdom Hearts Union X Dark Road. As complex as that might sound, Dark Road will be a standalone game and can be experienced without playing the Union X. Although, there will be various rewards in KHDR if you had already played KHUX.

No further information was posted on its later release dates. However, Square Enix will make an announcement on Dark Road in early June. Follow Kingdom Hearts Dark Road's official twitter account for future updates.

About Kingdom Hearts Dark Road

The Kingdom Hearts RPG series is a joint effort by Square Enix and Disney and has sprawled over more than 13 titles across different platforms. Nothing significant has been revealed about KHDR but its twitter handle claims it to "feature high speed battles that use your reflexes to flick during combat". This points to a card-based combat with its usual RPG elements.

The story follows a younger version of Xehanort and what led him to become the Seeker of Darkness. Xehanort has been the main antagonist of the Dark Seeker Saga till Kingdom Hearts 3. Hence the fans are really excited to uncover the central antagonist's past.
