PUBG Mobile India Series (PMIS) 2020 Revised Format Explained

PUBG Mobile is one of the most popular battle royale games available on mobile and is quite popular in India. Currently, PUBG Mobile India Series 2020 edition is going on for which the in-game qualifiers have already taken place between 20th to 27th May 2020.

Initially, the organizers decided to qualify only 248 teams from in-game qualifiers to pre-qualifiers to take place between 11th to 15th June 2020. But PMIS 2020 faced some difficulty as some big teams of India (like 8Bit) was unable to qualify due to some technical issue.

Also, the players' feedback convinced the organizers to increase the cutoff for the qualifying teams from 248 to 992. Due to this change, the whole format of the tournament has to revise accordingly.

 PUBG Mobile India Series (PMIS) 2020 Revised Format

Pre-Qualifier (11th - 15th June 2020)

In the pre-qualifiers, 992 teams qualified from the in-game qualifier will face each other to move to the next round. In this round, 62 groups will be formed, each of them consisting of 16 teams. All the groups will play the best of two matches on the Erangel map.

In the matches, teams will be rewarded with a score cumulative of placement points and Kill points. Based on this score, the top 4 teams from each group will move to the Online qualifiers (Round 1).

Online Qualifier

In Online Qualifiers, 256 teams will compete to proceed to the next round. Out of 256 teams, 248 teams will advance from the Pre-Qualifier round, and 8 teams will come in as direct invites.

In this round, 16 groups will be formed, each of them consisting 16 teams. All the groups will play the best of two matches on the Erangel map. Top 3 teams based on the cumulative score (Placement Points + Kill Points) will proceed to the Quarter Finals. 

48 teams will proceed based on the cumulative score, and apart from these, 8 teams with highest kills in the Online Qualifiers will proceed to the Quarter Finals, making it a total of 56 teams from the Online Qualifiers.

Quarter-Finals

In the Quarter Finals, a total of 64 Teams will participate. As mentioned earlier, 56 teams will qualify from the Online-Qualifiers round, and 8 new teams will be invited to play.

In this round, 4 groups will be formed, each consisting of 16 teams. These 4 groups will battle it out across 4 days, and 8 teams from each group will proceed to the next round.

Semi-Finals

A total of 32 teams from Quarter Finals advance to the Semi-Finals. Here we will get to see a healthy mix of teams fighting from the first round and young talented teams made their way through invitation.

Semi-Finals will determine the prowess of the older teams while propelling the new squads to national recognition. From this round, only a total of 16 teams will qualify for the Grand Finals.

Grand-Finals

Top 16 teams of the PMIS 2020 will compete for the grand prize pool of 50 Lacks INR and attain glory. Finals will be taking place for 3 days through 18 matches of intense battles. At the end of the third day, the new champions of India will be crowned.
